You really shouldn’t be reading about chocolate consumption statistics and 12 countries that consume the most chocolate in the world in 2018without a piece of chocolate next to you. Dark, milk, white, it doesn’t really matter.
Oh, that drink of the Gods! Or at least that’s what the Aztecs used to believe, and we couldn’t agree more. Chocolate was first drunk, and only later did it become famously molded into little cubes. By the way, if we’re talking abouthot chocolate consumption by country,the first place belongs to Portugal (followed by Finland). As forchocolate consumption by country, we’ll just say that certain countries are present on the list every year, with their rankings slightly changing every now and then.

However, chocolate’s popularity can’t be attributed only to its delicious taste. In today’s consumer society, it must be noted that people are encouraged to eat more sugar and chocolate bars than ever. Successful, funny advertisem*nts do their trick, and women are also lead to think it must be chocolate they’re craving once a month. We are all eating much more sugar than we’re supposed to, and chocolate bars are so convenient. How could something so small have so many calories? Well, it does, but we love it nonetheless.
There is a report ontop 10 countries that eat the most chocolate every single year, but writing an article aboutwhich countries consume the most chocolate in 2018 is a bit tricky since the year hasn’t finished yet. Therefore, we can’t really tell you the exact number of tons eaten by a country from the beginning of the year. However, what we did was analyze the reports and lists from previous years, and the forecast for the near future, too. Once we did that, it was so obvious. Some of the countries appeared continuously, with slight changes in their rankings.
