AMAZING Pork Chop Marinade Recipe (1)

My mom gave me this recipe years ago (I think that she found it in the newspaper) and it is my favorite.

I usually have all the ingredients on hand, so it’s super easy to throw together.

I have never had such a delicious and tender grilled pork chop before I tried this recipe.

It’s quick, simple, full of flavor, and this may even taste better than any steak you have ever had. And that is coming from a steak person.

This recipe is easy to double if you plan to feed a crowd, and it’s so simple to make.

How to pick the best pork chops:

Not all pork chops are the same, so it’s important to select pork chops that will give you the most meat and moisture, when picking them out at the grocery store.

  • Choose pork chops with a pinkish- red color and some marbling in them. There are also different cuts of pork chops, and the best pork chops for grilling have marbling in them.
  • Avoid pork chops with a dark colored bone, or dark spots on the fat. These will have a bitter taste, and may be harmful to eat.
  • The package may say that pork chops will be good for a few weeks, but it’s best to cook and use them within three days of purchasing them, to ensure a rich flavor.
  • After three days, we recommend freezing them, where they will keep nicely for about four to six months.

Low and slow:

When grilling your pork chops, it is important to remember that they grill quicker than most other meats. Pork chops can also be a little more dry.

It’s important to carefully watch them as you grill them, to ensure they are not overcooking and drying. Here are some grilling tips for pork chops:

  • Cook them on low, for a longer amount of time. This will help the juices soak into the meat, and not cook out quickly. It will also help avoid the meat from cooking fast on the outside, but not on the inside, leaving you with burnt pork chops.
  • Let your pork chops marinade for a while, and even make a little extra sauce to put on the side, to baste them as they cook. They taste best when the marinate overnight.
  • Don’t cut into the pork chops as they are cooking. If you do, make a small incision in the very center to ensure that the meat is done cooking, or a thermometer to see that it has reached the temperature of 145 degrees.
  • Each pork chop should be grilled for about 3-5 minutes on each side. You will also want to be sure your grill is close, to trap the heat, and let it cook fully.

  1. Mama2Rusty says:

Can you fry pork tenderloin with this marinade? I use EVOO and butter with my pork stuffs.

  2. Scott and Em Hoffman says:

What kind of pork do you grill? Every time I grill pork it turns out dry.

  3. Camille says:

I just buy regular pork chops from the grocery store . . . nothing fancy! I think that the secret is the marinade . . . this marinade keeps them so tender and moist!

  4. Kristi says:

Can these be put in the oven and if so how long should i put them in for so they are juicy and tender and not dry?

  5. Camille says:

I struggle with baking pork chops and not having them dry out. I have only ever tried this as a marinade and then grilled them and I am not sure it would work if you baked them in an oven. Sorry about that!

  6. Richard Byers says:

How many chops does this marinade work for? Should I double or triple for 12 small

  7. Richard Byers says:

    Center cut chops

  8. Camille says:

I would double the recipe for 12 small chops and it should work perfectly! :)

  9. Pdaley1 says:

is that 1 teaspoon of curry powder or 1 tablespoon? These sound delicious and want to make these for dinner tomorrow..

  10. Camille says:

    teaspoon! :)

  11. Erin says:

The best way to prepare pork chops to keep them from drying out is either grilling them. Or you take a cast iron skillet. Heat it to medium high with some oil. Let the pork chop sear 1-2 min each side so they have a nice crust. Then throw them in a 350F oven for 5 min on each side. Perfect chops every time. :)

  12. Erin says:

    Also works for chicken too

  13. marla washburn says:

I broil my pork chops...electric oven. Broil on high, lower rack to start for 6 minutes on each side then move to top rack and 3 minutes on each side. Make a foil snake to hold oven door slightly open. Perfect every time. I adapted Alton Browns broiler steak recipe. I am sure it would work with this recipe. These sound delicious. Going to try them tonight!

  14. marla washburn says:

These are so good cooked this way they don't dry out. I was surprised and had a hard time convincing myself that they were done because they were so moist.

  15. Darci Buhl says:

I just put this together for dinner tonight and was wondering what you serve it with typically? It seems like more of an asian marinade than I was expecting so I'm not sure! So tasty though....can't wait to eat them!

  16. Six Sisters says:

We usually have it with a pasta salad or potato salad.

  17. jt says:

Bennett's chili sauce or asian chili sauce?

  18. Cyd says:

We only have Heinz or store brand at our local grocery store. Any kind or flavor will work. You can adjust it to your liking.

  19. Kayleigh says:

We had this for dinner last night and it was super good! Except a little spicy for the kids... Next time I'll just add less chili sauce, but I'm definitely keeping this recipe!

  20. Julie says:

I just made these tonight. The pork chops were so good! I cooked them on a George Forman for 3 minutes, flipped them, and cooked them for another 2 minutes. They came out perfectly.

  21. Jen says:

    Would red curry powder work?

  22. Cyd says:

Not sure what the difference is between curry powder and red curry powder, so we aren't sure. May alter the taste slightly. But with 1 teaspoon it shouldn't be much.

  23. Tammy says:

Made this for dinner last night, it was fabulous! Thanks for the recipie, it is a keeper.

  24. Linda Mikunda says:

I try all your recipes and love them ! but would love to know about the pork chop marinade --- can you use either diced onions or onion powder instead of green onions in recipe ? sometimes they are harder to have on hand !

  25. Cyd says:

Hi Linda, Diced onions or onion powder will work just fine! You are like us, seems like I only have green onions on hand when I know I'll need them in a recipe. But I always have a yellow onion or onion powder! You will be just fine. Just adds a little flavor!

  26. Cindy says:

I brine pork before grilling. 1/4 c salt, 1/4 c sugar, 4 c water. About 3 hours works. The brine opens up the meat so it can absorb more liquid when you marinade. I brine 3 hours, marinade (this is my favorite by the way!!) overnight and don't overcook on the grill. Heavenly!!

  27. Dennis says:

I may have missed it but I don't see where it says how long to cook the chops. Thanks

  28. Cyd says:

The thickness of your pork chops will determine how long to cook them. Usually around 6-8 minutes on each side or until no longer pink on the inside. Hope this helps!
