If it’s your first time to Hawaii, it is safe to assume that you will want to stay for longer than just a quick weekend getaway. All of the islands have so much to offer, and it is important to make sure you have time to take full advantage of this paradise.
While many vacations are five to seven days long, we recommend staying for at least 10 days to enjoy your Hawaiian vacation. The time change is difficult to adjust to at first and takes about 3 days to get fully acclimated. So, allowing a couple days to get over the jet lag is important. Also, keep in mind that two of your vacation days will be dedicated to traveling. The shortest flight to Hawaii is from California, averaging anywhere between five and five and a half hours. With two days of travel, it is great to have 8 or more full days to explore the island you’re staying on. 
If you are looking to hike, snorkel, or camp, we recommend taking even 14 days for your vacation. If you are just looking to enjoy the hotel or resort you are staying in and plan on being around the pool most days, 10 days is probably sufficient.
The first few days of your vacation should be slow-paced, as you may feel the effects of the time difference as well as traveling. Find local eats close by, enjoy the pools and beaches, and sip on some Mai Tais. Once you are feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, come zipline with us on Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island!
