In March, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that an Avatar-based land similar to Pandora-The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida could be coming to “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

“We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida; we’re going to put a second one in California. That doesn’t mean we can’t put one somewhere in Asia or somewhere in Europe, for instance,” Iger said during the event, according to Scott Gustin, a member of the digital team at Nexstar Media Group Inc.

Nexstar Media Group Inc. is the parent company of KTLA.

Iger initially announced plans to bring an “Avatar experience” to the Disneyland Resort in 2023, but specific details on what that experience will have been limited.

Last May, it was announced that James Cameron, director of the Avatar movies, had been working with Walt Disney Imagineering on the new project.

News of the potential addition to the “Happiest Place on Earth” comes as Anaheim city officials continue to review the company’s Disneyland Forward plan.

Anaheim planning commissioners voted to approve a massive $1.9 billion expansion proposal in early March. The Anaheim City Council is expected to vote on the proposal on April 16.

Disneyland hasn’t announced when the Avatar experience will open at the resort.
