Is Evan Williams owned by Jack Daniel's? ›

Evan Williams is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, by the Heaven Hill company.

Today, Evan Williams is the second largest selling Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey in the U.S. and the world, distilled just a few blocks from the site where Evan himself built his distillery.

Evan Williams is cheaper than Jack, Jim, and almost every other bottom-shelf American whiskey. And at 86 proof, it has a higher-than-average ABV. Yet despite the high proof and low price, Evan still delivers those vanilla, oak notes on the nose and palate.

Bourbon does not expire, as long as it remains unopened. A correctly stored bottle can last decades as long as it's kept away from heat and light. If you have an opened bottle of bourbon its shelf life is about 3-6 months before it will start to lose quality and flavor.

Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond is aged under government supervision and meeting the exact requirements for a Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. It has all the kick you expect—but still goes down smooth.

A bourbon must be distilled at no more than 160 proof, or 80% alcohol by volume. Jack is well under that. It comes over the still at 140 proof, or 70% alcohol.

I drink all varieties of Evan Williams; mostly straight but sometimes over ice or as a mixer with ginger ale and lemon wedge. As a long time seeker of "value" for my hard earned money, Evan Williams is definitely the industry leader of great taste and value.

Mike Voted EW, JM and Jack are very similar whisky blends, only difference is Jim Beam and Evan Williams are bourbons, and Jack is not. Still, they taste similar and anyone that says one sucks and one is great is an idiot! And by the way all of these are great with co*ke or ginger ale as a mixer.

Crafted with Heaven Hill Distillery's traditional Bourbon mashbill of 78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye, Evan Williams 1783 also retains an extra-aged quality as it is a marriage of barrels aged six to eight years, providing a smooth, rich, and bold flavor.

After opening a bottle of whiskey, you have as long as two years or as few as six months or less to drink it before it goes bad.
