No they are not the same as we know that both are dairy products but the process of making them is different, to make paneer acetic acid is used to curdle the milk and the milk is curdled at a high temperature almost 85 -90 degree centigrade. To make cheese we require rennet (a complex set of enzymes produced in the stomachs of ruminant mammals) whereas Paneer is preparedby adding citricacidor malic acid, to hot milk to separate the curds from the whey. Paneer can be fried and grilled but cheese cannot be grilled or fried but it melts. And lastly they are different in taste and texture.
