Long ago, Silk had a few holiday beverages, including those ever-so-popular Pumpkin Spice and Mint Chocolate flavors. They’ve also tinkered around with Almond Milk Nog. But in recent years, they scaled back their seasonal offerings to focus solely on Silk Holiday Nog.
I think it could have been a good move, since Silk Holiday Nog really is a classic. It’s a sweet soymilk-based nog that’s dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, and made with non-GMO whole soybeans. It also has a respectable amount of sweetener (just 11 grams of sugars per dessert-like cup), making it a great seasonal treat for many. And although their packaging changes periodically, Silk Holiday Nog looks wonderfully sweet and lightly creamy like this, year after year …
Tasting Notes & Information for Silk Holiday Nog
I let two friends who can drink traditional dairy eggnog weigh in first. Caroline immediately proclaimed, “it tastes like Christmas!” Raechelle said, “this tastes the most like eggnog that I would buy at the store … a little too sweet, but good.” Finally, I poured myself a glass and enjoyed a sip. I concurred with both of them.
Silk Holiday Nog is slightly thinner than I expected, more like a 2% milk than a light cream, but still full-bodied and rich enough to call an indulgence. The flavor is sweet with a definite “nog” vibe that made me think of baking cookies while the snow falls outside.
Ingredients: soymilk (filtered water, soybeans), cane sugar, less than 0.5% of: locust bean gum, sea salt, rum, natural flavor, turmeric and annatto (for color).contains soy.

Silk Festive Nog Disappointment

Such a disappointment ! I couldn’t finish one glass. Other than adding oats I don’t know what was done to it but it has a very unpleasant taste. I hope they bring back the old recipe because this one is really not very good.

The new Silk Festive Oat nog. What an extreme disappointment. It is the most horrible-tasting garbage I have ever had. You wasted our money; we dumped four containers down the sink.!!! Thank god we tried this before Christmas; what a disgrace it would have been to serve this horrible-tasting garbage at Christmas or New Year dinners. We will never purchase silk products again; we will go to other soy milk made much better than your garbage. Going public to try to stop others from buying this and wasting hard-earned money!!!

Was looking forward to having this for Thanksgiving thru New Years but cant find it in any stores in Ft. Lauderdale , Fl. So disappointed. Doesn’t feel like holiday season without it.

I was surprised to taste silk eggnog. I have been dairy free for two years and most dairy free eggs have such a weird consistency too thin. This one is thin but not like the others I enjoyed it thoroughly.

This nog is so delicious it’s beyond words. I adore it on my breakfast cereal or by the glass. Ice cold there’s nothing better. I purchase as much as I can at the end of the nog “season” and freeze it so I’m seldom without. Thanks for a great, tasty, product!!!

Good lower sugar egg nog alternative

I think Southern Comfort (SC) is the eggnog gold standard. But at 29 carbs and 23 sugars it is not Keto friendly to consume often during the holidays. Silk nog is much thinner than SC and, while a good tasting drink, does not taste like SC. (I find it much more like Hood Holiday nog). However given the 12 grams of sugar in 4 oz, I find it a viable substitute for sipping on a regular basis during the holidays.

The 2020 run of Silk Nog is not the same as other years. The taste is off and the texture is thinner. After years of great flavor, this years is just like the overall 2020 year. I have submitted a review of the Silk Nog to the MFR as well. Very disappointed.

If soy isn’t a problem for you, then I think you will find Silk’s Nog seasonal beverage delightful. Made with whole, non-GMO soybeans, it has a delightfully sweet flavor that tasted more like dairy-based “nog” than most other dairy-free brands. But, it’s far lower in fat and even has less sugars than traditional eggnog. And though we sampled this beverage before the holidays kicked into full swing, it reminded all of our tasters of Christmas, cookie baking, and festivities.
