Sugar Free Copycat Frosty Recipe

The perfect restaurant inspired (almost) frozen treat.

I like that this treat falls somewhere between a milkshake and ice cream.

If you have tried my 3 Ingredient Sugar Free Frozen Fudge Pops then you will probably like this.

Both recipe are all about a cool way to enjoy a chocolaty taste. However, this recipe is something that you can enjoy both through a (I use a wide) straw or with a spoon.

Sugar Free Copycat Frosty Recipe (2)

I have often wondered what is a frosty made of.

From what I know, a genuine 'frosty' is made from a combination of cocoa, cream, milk, sugar and perhaps a few other ingredients. I have heard rumors that there may be artificial sweeteners and perhaps, corn syrup. [sigh]

My initial reason for making my own version of this popular beverage was to be able to enjoy it without the added sugar.

However, I now know that there are healthier ways for me to enjoy a nearly frozen chocolate treat.
Also, I am usually more motivated to make my own creations rather than venturing out to a drive-thru to spend money (cheap? lazy? smart?...you decide..)

Perhaps, the biggest question may be how do you eat a frosty.

Well, since this copycat recipe starts almost as cold as ice cream (an ingredient...), I like to start out using a spoon, such as an ice cream spoon.
Then I like to back that up with a wide straw (wide is essential to this in my opinion).

Here is how to get a texture that is similar to the actual Frosty texture.

Using an ice cream machine may help, although you will get a result more like ice cream and less like a shake. So, I like to use a blender in order to have more control over the final result of my copycat frosty.

Here are some tips Sugar Free Copycat Wendys Frosty Recipe

I just mentioned that you can use an ice cream maker to help you achieve more of an 'ice cream' consistency. However, I like to use a blender in order to have more control over the final result of my copycat frosty.

Here are some more copycat frosty tips for you.

  1. You can amp up your enjoyment of this recipe. Simply add a bit of a flavored extract, such as banana extract, or a bit of liqueur.
  2. I have been known to creatively use my leftovers. My favorite way to do so is by placing the leftovers between two sugar free cookies to make a cookie sandwich.
  3. You can make this recipe more of a chocolate beverage by adding additional milk. On the flip-side, you can thicken this up by adding additional ice cream or ice cubes. Feel free to experiment. 🙂

People ask, is a frosty just ice cream

A chocolate frosty seems to be both a milkshake and ice cream.
Or, it could be something inbetween the two.
