THE GLE and GLS Programs (2024)

GLE, formally referred to as Learning Strategies, is set up to ensure student success. The course content is intended to develop student learning and personal management skills. Students do receive a credit for completion of this course.

The breakdown of the course is up to the GLE teacher but all GLE courses will have time set aside for work from other classes. Essentially, the class is divided between skill development curriculum (GLE) and resource time for course work from other classes. This is a great opportunity for students who have work due or missed evaluations to complete them in GLE.

The GLE teacher's role is to support students with an IEP to ensure that students are developing learning skills and personal management skills, connect with students' classroom teachers outlining the supports offered in GLE, monitor student success, connect with parents regarding student success.

The GLE student's role is to be prepared with work from other classes so they can receive one-on-one support, take advantage of the extra time that so many students with an LD require. Ensure that all of your teachers know that you have a GLE period so they can contact your GLE teachers with any work related items.
