Track your heart rate with your phone (2024)

You can track your heart rate with your phone to understand your body’s wellbeing.

Important: Heart rate tracking is not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, prevent or treat any disease or condition. Consult your healthcare professional for questions about your health.

What you need

You can track your heart rate on some Android phones.

Measure your heart rate

  1. On your phone, open the Google Fit app Track your heart rate with your phone (1).
  2. At the bottom, tap Home.
  3. Scroll to “Heart rate” and tap Add Track your heart rate with your phone (2).
  4. Touch and lightly hold your finger on the back camera lens. Follow the on-screen instructions and keep your hand still.
    • This works best in a well-lit room. If you’re in a dimly lit space, point your camera to a light source or turn on your phone’s flashlight. In the Google Fit app, at the bottom right, tap the Flashlight Track your heart rate with your phone (3).
  5. Tap Save.

Tip: Make sure your hands are warm. Blood flow in your fingers decreases when your hands are cold, and can cause a weak signal.

Find your past heart rates

  1. On your phone, open the Google Fit app Track your heart rate with your phone (4).
  2. At the bottom, tap Home.
  3. Scroll to “Heart rate” and tap More Track your heart rate with your phone (5).
  4. To find your heart rate history, tap on either Day, Week, Month, or Year.
