If you were home alone and your water broke or contractions were very intense, would you drive yourself to the hospital or call an ambulance?
My husband's job has him all over, and sometimes he can be about 2 hours away. Depending on the time of day, the California traffic can make the drive home even longer. So, I’m wondering what to do if I'm in a situation where he is too far away and I feel like I need to go to the hospital. Should I drive myself or call an ambulance? The hospital is about 15 minutes away.

if i was alone i'd go early enough where i could still drive while having contractions. there shouldn't be too much that happens in the 15 minute ride to the hospital, but if they somehow got really intense i'd then pull over and call.

I guess it all depends on how intense it feels! In my later stage of labor i definitely could not have driven, it would’ve been so dangerous and also just impossible for me!!! But in the earlier parts i definitely could have,
Especially just 15 minutes!

Most FTM will have a nap cook some dinner do a clean up 2 hours into labour the contractions are usually very very manageable! I’d just stay put and work through them then if you feel it’s too much and he’s still far away cal ambulance

Personally I would labor at home as long as possible and then go when the husband gets home

Hmm my hospital is like 20 minutes away so I wouldn’t trust myself. I’d call a family member. This is my second but I didn’t labor with my first really so idk how intense it’ll be

I personally wouldn't drive myself, but I'm paranoid lol. My mom randomly went into labor just before 35 weeks with her first and almost had him in the car. The hospital was about a 15 minute drive away. She had 4 precipitous labors.
Honestly pregnancy and childbirth are just too unpredictable for me to take risks like that.

My husband better come pick me up in his cop car bc the hospital is 2 hours away and I doubt I’d make it. His boss would probably let him with lights and all. In other words, a short distance probably drive. A longer distance absolutely tf not. Labor at home until your contractions get close and steady.

Ambulance bills are expensive (even for Canadians) soooo I’d probably call an Uber
I told my boyfriend that a while back and he almost fainted and thought it was the craziest thing he’s ever heard

No, I wouldn't have been able to. I was doubbled over in pain couldn't move talk.
I would stay home and wait. First baby? If so it's very unlikely you'll have a very quick birth.
