Team Z[]

Meguru Bachira[]

Yoichi Isagi/Relationships (1)

Isagi first met Bachira when Kunigami told him to watch where he's going. Isagi looks down and sees a player sleeping on the floor. A sleeping Bachira surprises Isagi. [1] Isagi was at first unsettled by him and his eccentric demeanor but they quickly bonded after their first match against Team X.

Yoichi Isagi/Relationships (2)

They train together pretty often and Bachira has stated that he believes in Isagi multiple times which is why he always passes to him. Bachira implies that he constantly sees a "monster" inside and around Isagi, like himself. Before the match against Team V, he reaches out to Isagi to tell him that he'd be lonely without him if they lost the match and never got to see each other again, to which Isagi agrees. Isagi might be the first real friend Bachira has had in years since he began being bullied but even without him around he is still able to connect with other strong players like Itoshi Rin. They initially became teammates in the Second Selection of Blue Lock along with Nagi but Bachira was stolen away by Rin when their team lost. Isagi made a promise to reclaim Bachira and beat Rin the next time but he failed to do that, albeit barely. Even then Isagi was picked next by Rin and thus their friendship was not damaged or hindered and they kept playing football together against the World Best. When in Third Selection, they did not play anymore official games together in Blue Lock, though they both made the Blue Lock Eleven starting lineup and faced the Japan U-20 together. They are seen celebrating together on the field when Blue Lock scores or when the first half ended indirectly causing their parents to meet. By the time of the Neo Egoist League, Bachira has become a dear friend to Isagi who gives him sound advice and supports his friend as the aim for best striker in the world.

Rensuke Kunigami[]

Yoichi Isagi/Relationships (3)

Isagi's first encounter with Kunigami happened with a flying shirt. Kunigami was changing his shirt and accidentally threw it at Isagi. With Kunigami's chest bare, Isagi was impressed by Kunigami's physique and power on the field and also his strong sense of morality and proper way of doing things seen during the game of tag. Isagi trusted him enough to make the last point of their first game against Team X, and even though it didn't do much for their team, it solidified their budding friendship. They went on to complete First Selection together and since then separated due to Isagi going on ahead with Nagi and Bachira. They met again during the middle of Second Selection and went up against each other in a 3v3: Rivalry Battle. Isagi's Team White managed to win but Isagi did not choose Kunigami; it was the decision he thought was best to get further in Blue Lock and though he was sorry he kept walking forward. Kunigami respected his decision and decided to ingrain in his mind this loss and not to look away as his possible best friend walked ahead. Kunigami was in Isagi's thoughts always and he was surprised when he did not make it to the Third Selection but instead was knocked out by Ryusei Shidou. Once Kunigami returned from his time in Wild Card, he became noticeably colder and serious to Isagi. Though Isagi is the only person in the Germany Stratum Kunigami talks to, he is constantly rude and condescending to Isagi who reciprocates the feeling. Even though Kunigami has become a threat on the field, Isagi does not have to worry about him interfering in his plans to become the world's best striker. After the game against Manshine City, Isagi asked Kunigami for advice on improvement and even though Kunigami was reluctant to help he ended up aiding Isagi in his own way and decided to play a game of 2v2 with him Bachira, and Chigiri for old times sake.

Hyoma Chigiri[]

Isagi and Chigiri were initially indifferent towards each other. Only really interacting when the team was communicating as a whole. Their first one to one interaction was the night after their game against Team Y and Isagi found Chigiri in the monitor room. Chigiri noticed Isagi's restlessness and helped explain spatial awareness to Isagi but when Isagi asked about Chigiri's weapon he revealed his former leg injury and his resolve in finding a reason to quit football at Blue Lock. This interaction ended poorly and made the two avoidant of each other. As Team Z struggled against Team W, Chigiri saw Isagi try so hard to win despite the odds, like he use and after Isagi assaulted him trying to keep the ball moving Chigiri was finally pushed into the action. The play that followed bonded Chigiri and Isagi and they have become respected rivals of each other. They know each other's strengths and weakness very well and they constantly get in each other's way when playing for opposite teams. However, as teammates they have a good chemistry, with Isagi relying often in the speed of Chigiri, while on the other side Chigiri trusts Isagi and his capacity to observe and analize the field and the players in the game. Outside of the field, Isagi and Chigiri have a friendly relationship getting along very well. After the match against Japan U-20, Isagi meets Chigiri with Bachira and spend most of the day playing together bowling.

Jingo Raichi[]

Wataru Kuon[]

Gin Gagamaru[]

Yudai Imamura[]

Okuhito Iemon[]

Asahi Naruhaya[]

Naruhaya and Isagi had maintained a good relationship throughout their times in Team Z. Upon their fateful encounter during the Second Selection, Naruhaya exposes his condescendence towards Isagi, believing him and Isagi to be mediocre players, not being able to survive the selection for the stronger players like Nagi and Barou. However, his vision would soon turn against him, as Isagi uses his weapons to acquire the final goal. After Isagi and Nagi won the selection against both Barou and Naruhaya, their choice to choose the former and eliminate the latter was apparent. Before leaving the facility, Naruhaya wishes Isagi the best of luck and encourages him to continue winning.

Gurimu Igarashi[]

Upon meeting Isagi, Igarashi immediately opens up to Isagi. Igarashi tells Isagi his background and Isagi finds some similarities between the two. He also shares with Isagi how Ego's sentiments motivated him to participate in Blue Lock. During the game of tag, Igarashi initially targets Isagi but is unsuccessful. Isagi is later tagged by a ball meant for Igarashi who was hiding behind him. Isagi then begins to target Igarashi; however, Isagi later chooses to target stronger players after seeing Igarashi with a sprained ankle and realizing winning by targeting the weak is not what he came to Blue Lock for. Both players survive the Entrance Exam and are surprised by Ryosuke Kira's reactions and adamant disrespect towards them when he gets eliminated instead of them, the lowest ranked players. They early on struggle together with similar issues being the lowest ranked and most average out of everyone.

Team X[]

Shoei Baro[]

Baro was the first true striker Isagi encountered in Blue Lock and he had a lasting influence on Isagi going forward. Baro was the first person Isagi willingly went to for advice in Blue Lock and in the Second Selection Baro was the first person Isagi actively tried to conquer and be better then. Their clashing and time together on a team has created a very specific kind of relationship where they actively try to be better than one another by using their own strengths to counter the other's weaknesses. They have used each other to score their own goals multiple times and it is the core theme of their ongoing relationship. It can get out of hand at times when Baro got in the way of a counter during a game just to be better than Isagi or when Baro head butted Isagi by accident when seeing him again during the Neo Egoist League. Even they don't have a perfect relationship, they have much respect for each other and their skills. They both view each other as valid threats.

Team Y[]

Ikki Niko[]

Niko is the first player to show Isagi what he can do with his spatial awareness skill as Niko expertly used it to coordinate Team Y's attack and defense. Isagi learnt how to properly analyze the field and challenged Niko eventually winning their bout of skill and securing victory for his team with a goal birthed from his new understanding. Niko after this loss changed to better become a striker and a survivor of Blue Lock while also vowing to get revenge against Isagi in the future. They both respect each other and are usually friendly towards one another. Niko admits he is glad Isagi caused a change in him for he has found a new joy in football because of it.

Team V[]

Seishiro Nagi[]

Isagi initially meets Nagi during the First Selection in the cafeteria when Wataru Kuon tries betraying Team Z to avoid getting expelled form Blue Lock. They have more of an interaction during the last game of the First Selection and they both witness each other's skills and presence on the field. Isagi sees Nagi's insane ball control and trapping ability while Nagi begins to recognize not only Isagi's spatial awareness ability but his potential and overall influence on the field. Isagi might be the first person Nagi fully respects because he forsakes his relationship with Reo just to play on Isagi's team because Isagi creates an opportunity for Nagi to further develop his football ability and play the kind of football he wants.

As teammates on the field, they have an incredible chemistry and understanding of each other. Isagi takes full advantage of Nagi's trapping skills and ball control and Nagi takes advantage of Isagi's ability to create chance opportunities and the best plays, sometimes pushing him to the limit get the goals he wants. They are an unstoppable duo in the Second Selection slowly climbing up the ranks and acquiring some of the most powerful players in Blue Lock after their initial lose to Rin's Team Red. They lose a second time to Rin's Team Red in the Second Selection due only to "luck", really showing how powerful they are as a team and how much they can develop in a short period of time together. When Isagi was chosen by Rin to continue on, Nagi promised to climb up and meet Isagi along with everybody else and Nagi watched as Isagi went on ahead to face the World's Best.

They met again when Third Selection began, as Nagi had kept his promised and was apart of the Second Team that cleared Second Selection. Though they did not play anymore official games together in Blue Lock, they both made the Blue Lock Eleven as offensive midfielders, directly supporting and attacking with Rin Itoshi. During the Neo Egoist League, Nagi's ultimate goal is revealed to be getting revenge on Isagi for his first loss in football to him. Nagi ends up semi completing this goal by scoring an outrageous goal on an evolved Isagi but Isagi answers back in kind by preventing any such goal from happening again and ultimately being the key piece to shutting down Nagi and winning the game. Nagi afterwards still feels the need to be better than Isagi further pushing him to evolve.

Off the field, Nagi goes back to his mostly indifferent personality and does his own thing ignoring what Isagi and everyone else says in favor of watching something or playing a video game on his phone. Though he does listen to what Isagi has to say when he is trying to speak logic on or off the field. Isagi can sometimes be the voice of reason when Nagi doesn't get along with others.

Reo Mikage[]

Reo and Isagi had their first encounter in each other's respective matches, Team V and Team Z. After the tie against the both teams, Reo, who was with Nagi, met Isagi and Bachira for the assortment of teams in the Second Selection Arc. Nagi's choice to team up with Isagi bestowed emotions to Reo that somewhat resemble jealousy, and this evolved Reo's hesitant attitude towards Isagi to plain, utter hatred (disguised as admiration). He became determined to overcome Isagi, in order to regain Nagi. Since the Third Selection however, their relationship has become more of an amicable and arguably friendly rivalry towards each other especially after having after having a heart to heart about their respective feelings about catching up to Nagi and Rin's skill level, as well as Nagi clearing up the misunderstanding surrounding the Second Selection. Isagi also discovered that Reo is one of the only few in the Neo Egoist League to manuever Metavision, although Reo did it unconsciously.

Zantetsu Tsurugi[]

Blue Lock Facilitators[]

Jinpachi Ego[]

When Isagi first met Ego, he wondered what was going in his head. Unlike most of the invited players, Isagi didn't outright disagree with Ego's ideologies. After hearing Ego's statement about egoistic strikers and the dream of the World cup, Isagi was persuaded and he was the first person to run toward the entry to Blue Lock. [2]

After the game of tag, Ego commends Bachira and Isagi for choosing to aim for stronger players. He states that those are perfect examples of tenacious people who pursue their own egos. Ego remarks that it is exactly the egoism he is looking for in Blue Lock. [3] Ego goes on to view Isagi's growth as an egotist and a football player and even publicly commends him on his ability to shadow and motivate Rin Itoshi.

He chose him as an offensive midfielder for the Japan National Representative match and when Blue Lock was losing due to Ryusei Shido's presence, Isagi ran to him asking for help. Instead of listening to Ego talk about a strong and secure future for Japanese football and the players of Blue Lock even if they do lose the game ,he clearly and adamantly states he doesn't care about any of that; the team and him only care about winning so he tells his coach to give him the answer and Ego obliges him, impressed by his passion and ego.

It is implied that Isagi and Ego share a similar perspective when it comes to football as noted by Noel Noa and Isagi was personally chosen by Ego to participate in Blue Lock unlike the others who were handpicked by Anri.

Anri Teieri[]

Anri and Isagi first met when Anri was distributing the uniforms. Along with the clothes, Anri was also the one who led the players to their specified rooms. [4] It's later revealed that unlike the other competitors of Blue Lock, Ego chose Isagi to participate in Blue Lock not Anri as she found him lacking after watching his last match.

Others[]

Ryosuke Kira[]

Kira was Isagi's first friend upon coming to Blue Lock. Before entering the facility, Kira asked Isagi if he was from the school they played against before. Isagi is shocked that Kira remembers him. Kira then compliments Isagi, saying that he had a hunch that he was quite a player. Kira described Isagi as someone who had an impressive field perspective and a high football IQ. Isagi is flattered by Kira's praises and acknowledgment. They walk together as they enter the Blue Lock facility. Isagi notes that Kira was talented both in football and socializing. [5]

While Kira initially dismisses and tries to disprove Ego's plans and way of thinking towards Japanese Football, Isagi is more than open to the possibilities and is the first person to give Ego's plan a chance and this is where their friendship diverges. When they are by chance grouped into the same initial Team Z, they are happy to see each other but after the game of tag is over and Kira is eliminated from Blue Lock due to Isagi's instinctual actions, he is beyond pissed at Isagi because his potential football career has been destroyed in a matter of minutes. He leaves Blue Lock angry at Isagi and the whole system.

Itoshi Rin[]

Isagi’s first impression of Rin came from the beginning of the Second Selection when Rin showed his talent by kicking two soccer balls that collided with one another in the air.

Their first official interaction is in the Second Selection, in the 3v3 matching area. After gaining the knowledge the winners can steal a player from the losing team, Isagi’s ego leads him to challenge Rin’s team. In the match Rin scores a goal at kickoff, which is the start of their rivalry. During the match, Isagi calls Rin lukewarm (the latter’s catchphrase) for underestimating him. At the end, Rin sees through Isagi’s plan and ends up winning, deciding to steal Bachira.

They meet once again in the fourth stage, and Isagi loses once again, 4-5. The game came down to a matter of luck, which Rin admits saying he was unable to read the last play. Because of this, Rin feels defeated so he decides to choose Isagi as the one joining the team. Rin says Isagi cannot sink here because he must watch in the front row as he becomes the best.

Yoichi Isagi/Relationships (4)

Isagi is determined to catch up, stating he sees Rin as his rival. Rin, however, states Isagi is nothing to him. He lost this time, but claims there will not be another.

After their match with Team World Five, Isagi admires how when he had given up the chance of winning, Rin wanted to persevere and was frustrated at their loss because he had believed there was a chance of winning. (Unlike Isagi, who had abandoned that hope) He states that he will be the closest to Rin until the day he surpasses him.

Noel Noa[]

Noel is Isagi's role model, whom he idolizes and deeply admires. In the Neo Egoist League, Isagi is greatly surprised and excited to see his favorite player in Blue Lock as a coach, and without a doubt chooses to play in Bastard München because it's the team Noel would be guiding, not letting escape the oportunity to learn from the best striker in the world.
