Award-winning British food journalist and author Nigel Slater has published 18 bestselling cookbooks and two autobiographies, including the critically acclaimed memoir Toast, which was adapted into both a film and a stage play. He has also hosted such popular UK food shows as Nigel Slater’s Real Food Show, A Taste of My Life, and Nigel and Adam’s Farm Kitchen.

Experience

Nigel Slater spent a number of years after graduating from technical college working in restaurants and hotels throughout the UK, then as a recipe tester and cook for food photography before turning to food writing. He was a food writer for Marie Claire for five years and worked on The Marie Claire Cookbook (1992). He has been writing a weekly food column for The Observer since 1993. Over the last three decades, Slater has received numerous honors for both his writing and broadcast work, which has ranged from instructional cookery to chat shows to documentary series that have aired in 52 countries. He is known and celebrated for his humor, down-to-earth cooking style, and intimate, personal approach to storytelling in books such as Appetite, Thirst, The Kitchen Diaries, Tender, andEating for England.

Nigel Slater studied catering at Worcester Technical College where he earned his vocational qualification diploma (OND).
